ECU also provides a comprehensive suite of online study options and has expanded internationally with an offshore campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and programs in China, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Singapore. ECU’s courses are developed in consultation with industry, and the teaching staff bring extensive industry experience and networks to the table. This ensures that ECU students can anticipate opportunities for work-integrated learning placements, fieldwork, practicums, and networking events as integral parts of their studies. In the realm of research, ECU strives to make a meaningful impact on the community in Western Australia and beyond. The university focuses on collaborative efforts with communities, businesses, and government organizations to address real-world problems. Named after Edith Dircksey Cowan, OBE (1861-1932), the first woman elected to an Australian Parliament, the university draws inspiration from her dedication to the belief that education is the key to societal growth, change, and improvement. ECU prides itself on developing capable graduates who lead engaged and productive lives in their communities. Edith Cowan’s image even graces the Australian $50 note in recognition of her significant contributions.
